Is Jamal Done? Jussie Smollett Says 'Empire' Finale Will Bring 'Tears'

Is Jamal Done? Jussie Smollett Says 'Empire' Finale Will Bring 'Tears'

That wasn't the only jaw-dropping moment in the finale. Cookie talked her down with the reminder she's carrying her grandchild. Lucious proposes the idea of marrying Anika, which would legally free her from having to testify. Much to her demise, Cookie's happily evil ex-husband "Lucious" (Terrance Howard) was singing a different tune. She says she'd rather die than have to snitch on Lucious, but is that really why she's willing to die? Or did she have the ability to see into the future and know Rhonda would suffer from temporary amnesia after her fall. Bold move! He lies to her face about killing her dad, also getting her to rap on a beat he made for Jamal. Speaking of the Bureau, they're not after the Lyons for any of the numerous crimes we've actually seen them commit, but for some dude the mogul killed back in the day on behalf of two other dudes we've neither seen nor heard of before.

"Dramatically Season 3, and we set it up in this finale, is a battle for the soul of Empire". But we love both of these characters and both of these actresses - and it's hard to think about losing either one of them. The family, as they get closer, it gets more unsafe as we get into season three. Obviously, fans will learn the fate of Jamal and if he survives the gunshot, but that's not all that's going on. Cookie has her heart ripped out by Lucious-again-when he quickly decides that he and Anika must get married in order to keep her from testifying in front of a grand jury, just like when she learned, in last year's two-part finale, that he had killed Bunkie. Suicide attempts, weddings, subpoenas, slap fights, strangling. "And she got them just where she wanted them". (That last one is all me.) Cookie, Jamal and Hakeem are swallowed up by devastation and it looks like Lucious can join that club too. She grabs her by the neck and starts choking her. This is too amusing! That is, until it came time for the youngest Lyon, Hakeem (Bryshere Gray), to marry his fiancee, Laura (Jamila Velazquez). They head out. Hakeem asks Andre if Rhonda really left him and he says she went to LA about a design opportunity.

The Wall Street Journal mentioned that there have been several twists and turns throughout season 2 including complaints and disharmony within the family. "So, first and foremost, Hakeem needs to regain his dignity, and hip-hop is going to play a big part of that". Cookie says you think that debutante pushed you down the stairs. When Laura comes out with her mother and father and the Calleros family sees exactly what they are in for in merging with the Lyon Dynasty, Laura tells Hakeem that she's out and leaves. Chaiken tells THR of how the recovery process changes him in season 3, "It changes him and impact him in huge and small ways...."

Jussie continued, "Listen, I mean it's all love and everything will, you know, all come together in the season finale and all will make sense", before Smollett teased that "All of the questions will be answered, the holes will be filled, and the ribbons will be tied in a nice little bow" in Empire's finale.
