MacBook Pro 2016 Rumors: New Apple Laptop to Replace MacBook Air?

The new MacBook Pro laptops are expected to launch at WWDC 2016.

The notebook will also reportedly feature Touch ID support and OLED display touch bar, which is situated just above the keyboard.

Interestingly, the tech experts foresee a future in which Apple's MacBook Air series will eventually be replaced by the souped-up MacBook Pro lineup. Currently, the 13-inch model has its speakers located on the back of the keyboard.

Apple is rumored to be making big changes to the next incarnation of the MacBook Pro, as KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (a solid source of Cupertino rumors) has previously suggested, including the introduction of Apple's new butterfly key switches (as seen in the 12-inch MacBook).

Rumors have pegged the latest MacBook Pro to release in the third quarter of the year, and if these photos give us any evidence of what's to come, it won't be disappointing.

Obtained by Cult of Mac, the pictures appear to show a MacBook Pro chassis ahead of final assembly.

The images in question were supposedly leaked by one of Apple's manufacturing partners over in China, and clearly show that this MacBook Pro has what can only be described as a display-less chassis. Also, it is easy to see an empty strip in place of what used to be the function key row at the top of the new macs keyboard. That's one more than the current MacBook, which uses a single USB-C port to charge and connect to whatever else you may want to plug into your computer.

For heavy laptop users, the MacBook Pro 2016 will surely be an ideal buddy because it has a battery that can last for 10 long hours.

Perhaps more controversial will be the USB ports. On the other hand, they do provide a look at how the 2016 MacBook Pro could potentially look.

When it comes to performance, the new MacBook Pro is expected to be faster and more efficient.

If the photos are legit, which they seem to be, Apple is getting rid of other ports besides the USB Type-C. The event is scheduled to be held from June 13 to June 17.
