Goodwood the standout in racing summer schedule

Goodwood the standout in racing summer schedule

For horse racing fans 2016 has already delivered some memorable moments. From the Cheltenham festival and the Grand National earlier in the year to Royal Ascot more recently, the events have been as exciting and dramatic as ever before and given us some moments to remember. That isn’t going to stop as the year continues, we have Glorious Goodwood coming up in the next few weeks as well as many more quality meetings up and down Britain as the summer progresses.

Glorious Goodwood is probably the standout festival of the summer and should attract some of the best runners and riders from across the world after it announced a lucrative partnership with Qatar in 2014, which was the biggest in British horse racing history. That has seen the prize money increase as well as investment into eight key races which means that the festival is now extremely popular for all those involved in the industry, and for those who like horse racing betting. Whilst that is the key event, there are also many more meetings up and down the country that provide excitement for the punters and you can keep up to date with all the latest news and odds with everything thanks to coral’s horse-racing coverage. They will give you every little detail you need before you watch a race, from their weight, past performances and recent form. All the essential details that you need to know before parting with your cash!

As for Goodwood, as mentioned the Qatar partnership has increased the profile of the trainers and jockeys that now participate, but that isn’t the only reason for fans to go. The surroundings are particularly beautiful, set in the Sussex countryside this provides an ideal setting for fans to go out and enjoy a day out as well as some top class racing. As for the races, there are many that standout, including the Sussex Stakes on the second day of the festival. The early favourite is Galileo Gold who is priced at around 5/2, which looks fair given that he has been in fine form recently which included a great victory under Frankie Dettori at Royal Ascot in the St. James’s Palace Stakes. He beat The Gurkha in that race at Ascot, and the Irish horse is a close second favourite for the Sussex and is expected to provide some real competition on the day. Elsewhere, the festival is wrapped up on the Saturday and includes the Nassau Stakes. Minding is the early favourite and is priced as short as evens to get the win. Qemah and Alice Springs make up the top three at 8’s and Arabian Queen might be worth a look for those of you who have a go on the each-way market.

Goodwood is the standout for what should be a great summer of racing, for fans it provides a great day out in a spectacular setting and is something that all racing fans should be trying to experience. If not, there are many more local meetings up and down the country than can ensure you get your racing fix, and hopefully pick a few winners!
