India wants good ties with Pakistan, China: Manohar Parrikar

Asked if Trump's America First would come in the way of Make in India and stop USA firms from participating in the programme, Parrikar said: "You should have put this question to Boeing, they are there at the exhibition".

It will be held at the Yelahanka Airforce station in Bengaluru from February 14-18. Additional initiatives are going to be unveiled to promote businesses in the sector. "If a company wants to shift his facility from anywhere else it is his choice whether he sets up a new one".

The much awaited Strategic Partnership model to select key Indian private players for defence manufacturing projects is in the "final 5 per cent stage", Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has said, adding that the ministry is working out the finer points.

Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajpathi Raju was also present at the inaugural event.

For the first time in the history of India's premier military aviation show, Aero India, China will make its debut in the event's five-day 11thedition, starting on Tuesday, with a confirmed five-member team. With no major acquisitions on the cards for Indian forces the air show unlike previous years is quite a low key.

Besides the LCA, HAL also develops a light combat helicopter and a light utility helicopter for the Indian defence forces. If the country is able to bring in 50 more active airports to the exiting 70-odd active airports, India can become the third largest civil aviation market in the world. Speaking about private participation, the minister spoke of the Future Infantry Combat Vehicles, and said at least 20 other projects under Make in India have been cleared for the army, navy and the air force. "No reasons why we should keep fighting with them".

The Army Chief also visited the Army Aviation pavilion in Aero India 2017.

The handover of the system - mounted on a Brazilian Embraer-145 jet - by the Defence Research and Development Organisation to the Indian Air Force (IAF) was done in the presence of Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, DRDO chief S. Christopher and Defence Minister's Scientific Adviser G. Satheesh Reddy. Fighters like Sukhoi 30 MKI, France's Rafale, Sweden's Gripene and USA's F-16 left the crowd spellbound with their manuvoers. Then came the artists in mid-air from Scandinavia, the wing-walker team, Skycats.
