Singer Joy Villa has been known for pushing the envelope when it comes to Grammy Awards fashion. She wrote as a caption: "My whole artistic platform is about LOVE!"

It is interesting to point out, however, that while Soriano may have in fact be an all-out Donald Trump supporter, Villa may not actually be as avid as people might think she is.

Earlier on Monday, Villa posted an Instagram about how she was excited to even be in the top 20 on iTunes. "You can either stand for what you believe or fall for what you don't", the post read. The train of her fishtail gown was also written with the US President's last name in bold letters: TRUMP.

While Villa did not respond to messages seeking comment, she has appeared on multiple Fox News programs since the Grammy Awards to explain the reasoning behind her decision. Also, she is a Scientologist.

In response to her critics on Instagram, Villa wrote: "Sometimes you just gotta be free to express yourself". So far, her biggest claim to fame is showing up at the Grammy Awards for the past three years in outlandish outfits with the hopes of making Best (or Worst) Dressed lists.

This is not the first time Villa has made a statement on the red carpet.

The gown, which earned many reactions from online users, was designed by a Filipino designer Andre Soriano who immigrated to the United States and became a naturalized citizen. Then previous year, she again grabbed headlines with a similarly see-through dress consisting mostly of fabric spikes.

"There was a lot of controversy around the president and a lot of hate honestly, and I wanted to change the narrative", Villa said.

Soriano said the dress's inspiration was somewhat unconventional. I'm from the Philippine islands.

Without solid numbers, it's hard to judge how much Villa's own album sales have leaped, but it's clear she succeeded in one thing: making a statement. I am a minority, Joy is black. She is one of the people on this planet that really promotes love.
