Trump attacks 'dishonest' media in first solo press conference

We went eight years with President Obama, and we went many years before President Obama.

"This administration is running like a fine-tuned machine", he said, dismissing recent reports of a White House in "chaos".

The attacks on the news media echoed Mr. Trump's stump speeches from the campaign, where he routinely denounced news reporters as the "most dishonest people I've ever seen".

"The only thing they can do is delay, because they screwed things up royally", he said.

He also defended the roll-out of his travel ban and said that he would be issuing a new order next week.

An approval rating of 55% certainly backs up what he says.

The President spent much of the press conference berating what he called fake news.

Trump claimed that he had "inherited a mess" from President Barack Obama and accused the media of trying to distort the steps his administration has taken to address national security and law enforcement concerns. "I'm really not a bad person, by the way".

After railing against leaks from the intelligence community, Trump said that the leaks that have made it into the press are, in fact, real, but that the news is still "fake". That order was tied up in a legal fight, United States appeals court upholds block on travel ban but the Trump administration said on Thursday it would not longer contest the ruling. It would appear that they could not be both.

"I was given that information", he said.

Donald Trump has denied that his senior aides were in "constant contact" with Russian Federation during the campaign.

He says the reports surrounding links between his allies and Russian Federation are "fake news" and that leakers should be ashamed of themselves.
