$1 million winning Powerball ticket sold in North Quincy

As a consolation prize, $1 million pales in comparison to $435.5 million.

According to the Powerball website, four lottery players matched five numbers correctly to win $1 million each in Wednesday night's drawing.

Kansas Lottery spokeswoman Sally Lunsford said in an e-mail that the winning ticket in Kansas was purchased in the northeast part of the state.

In order to win $1 million, you must match the first five numbers in the winning combination, though you need to get the sixth number- the Powerball- to win the jackpot.

Cumberland Farms at 2184 Mendon Road sold the winning $50,000 ticket, which has yet to be claimed.

A player in IN also won the $435.3 million jackpot Wednesday.

Two Massachusetts residents became millionaires Wednesday night after purchasing winning tickets in what was one of the largest Powerball drawings in history.

Saturday's estimated PowerBall® jackpot is $40 million.
