Overwatch PTR down: New Hero hits servers and causes player outage

Orisa is the 24th character developed for the game, and it (she?) is a highly technical tank character.

Orisa is now active on PC in the PTR. Some parts were purchased by eleven-year-old Efi Oladele, a brilliant girl whose early accomplishments in robotics and artificial intelligence had already earned her the Adawe Foundation's "genius grant".

Orisa's shield ability can be fired out in front of her, and it creates a stationary barrier. Once the charge is detonated, enemies within its range will be slowed down and pulled toward the explosion. Think an inverse verion of Pharah's knock-away charge: rather than knocking enemies away, it drags them closer. They want Orisa to have that same feeling where more mobile tanks like Winston or D.Va, or more offensive tanks like Roadhog or Zarya just play differently. Her Ultimate is something called Supercharger, which increases the damage inflicted by the players on your team.

But, is Orisa truly the tank that can substitute for a good Reinhardt and provide alternate styles of play? Orisa is playable today on the PTR beta region, with a full launch expected within weeks. These new OR15s were deployed for a short time before they were destroyed in an attack by Doomfist.

However, unbeknownst to us, she's the creater behind Orisa, and teased her existence in that blog post.

While it might seem like she has a lot in common with other defensive heroes like Zarya and Reinhardt, Blizzard is quick to make distinctions known. Why walk along slowly as Reinhardt holding a barrier - doing little else - when you can run and gun and still protect your team?

Along with introducing us to Orisa, the video also confirms that Doomfist was the one responsible for the airport attack. The sheen recharges ten seconds after use, and you can tell when it's active because she'll hold her left arm up in a protective gesture. Feel free to let us know in the comments section below. She's somewhere in between Reinhardt and Zarya in terms of how hard she is to play, but she has a huge range advantage over most of the other tanks, outdistancing all but D. Va.

I would think that you could simply buff the health of Orisa's shield, but it may be necessary, now that we have an accurate counterpoint, to nerf Reinhard's shield health.
