Vodafone, Airtel and Idea hit Jio with their new plans

Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani said during his speech celebrating 100 million subscribers that Jio will keep a check on tariff plans of other telecom operators and will offer 20 percent more with its plans. These subscribers can then pay Rs303 per month to enjoy free voice calls and free 4G data (with a daily fair usage cap of 1GB) for another 12 months ending March 31, 2018.

There are no happy hours and you will see data exhaustion and slow down of speeds once the daily limit of 1GB is reached. When a user recharges with the offer he will get 1 GB of 4G data everyday until 28 days.

Now, the mobile users are confused that they should switch from Jio to their old operator or they should continue with Jio and subscribe Jio prime membership for Rs. 99, as the other telecom majors are also offering such plans and huge discounts. Just days after the company announced the debut of the Jio Prime Membership and the associated plans, today we have reports of two plans from within the Prime Membership getting an upgrade. The plan comes with unlimited voice calls to any network and has the validity of 28 days. "Jio management indicated that now about 1billion GB per month data is getting consumed on Jio and that it will have the capacity to offer about 4 billion GB data per month by end-FY17", says a March 2 report by Motilal Oswal. Reliance Jio has nearly forced other telecom operators to come up with affordable mobile plans.

The paid service of Jio or Jio Prime membership program was announced last month and you can get yourself enrolled in it by paying Rs 99.

While Vodafone announced a limited period Rs 346 offer, Airtel announced a Rs 345 plan and Idea Cellular a Rs 348 plan. But they are offering only half the data i.e. 14GB for 28 days.

All in all, the current telecom scenario paints a very rosy picture for Indian customers, and it will be interesting to see user's choices in coming months.

Vodafone has also launched a plan to take on Jio Prime.

Jio subscribers will be able to make local/STD calls and send up to 100 SMS per day for free, and if they wish to make global calls or send worldwide SMS, several top-up options are available. This will also get you unlimited local and STD calls.

Big difference - Airtel is not giving 1GB per day as it is. Also offered was SIM card delivered to Sharma's home and Adhaar based activation. However, you can check your eligibility for the pack by signing into your account in the "My Idea" app. You can also contact the Idea Cellular customer care to find out.
