Two dead and one injured after stabbing in Wolverhampton

The 33-year-old sister of the attacker - who set upon his relatives in a first-floor flat on Wednesday morning - was killed, while their mother, 59, is fighting for her life in hospital.

Two people have died following a domestic stabbing incident in the central English city of Wolverhampton on Wednesday, police said.

A man has stabbed a woman to death and left a second woman in a critical condition after a "domestic stabbing" attack in Wolverhampton, police say.

West Midlands officers used stun grenades to break into the property in the Merry Hill area of Wolverhampton after getting a call around 9.45am.

A woman, believed to be in her 30s, has died at the scene.

"Officers used stun grenades as they stormed the flat in a bid to distract and detain the knifeman".

"A police officer who was sent to the scene suffered a minor injury to his arm".

Another woman around 50 years old is now undergoing treatment for possibly life-threatening wounds from being stabbed in her stomach, say police in West Midlands.

"This is a truly shocking incident and our sympathies go out to the friends and family of those involved".

The Independent Police Complaints Commission has started an investigation.

Three air ambulances, three more ambulances, three paramedics and one doctor were sent to the scene.
