Undisputed: Russell Westbrook, not LeBron or Harden, is the MVP favorite

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, of course, is not one of those detractors.

The dumb narrative about the game is going to be that Russell Westbrook outplayed Kawhi Leonard in their mano-a-mano duel for the MVP, but that didn't have much to do with anything.

He tossed an underhand pass to Andre Roberson on the break for his eighth assist. Tonight, with his 31st triple-double of the season, the Brodie tied up with Wilt for the second most in a single season.

Oklahoma City Thunder centre Steven Adams had 11 points and six boards in a big home win over the San Antonio Spurs.

They had closed to within a game of the Warriors (52-12) on the back of Golden State's Thursday home defeat to the Boston Celtics, but now drop another game further back at 50-14.

The Sacramento Kings are, yet again, on a lopsided season, now at 25-38 and among the worst teams in the Western Conference. Taj Gibson replaced Domantas Sabonis as the starting power forward and the results were promising. Westbrook averaged 45 points per game during that stretch, but did not record a triple double. Over the next 27 minutes and 53 seconds, the Spurs outscored us 81-43. Guard Dejounte Murray started in place of Parker. They have recently lost their franchise player in DeMarcus Cousins and are now fully focused on rebuilding for the future, acquiring young talents in exchange. We crawled back in it, and now I think it just goes to show the character that we have within the group, coming together and making sure we don't get embarrassed in our own building like that.

F Danny Green scored 14 points. Patty [Mills] joined them, and I thought everybody else chipped in and did what they had to do with the 33 assists and getting up into them physically, defensively, after the first quarter.

Kawhi Leonard finished with 19 points on 6-of-15 shooting for San Antonio. He'll continue to be out, with a sprained MCL of his left knee and a bone bruise of his left tibia.

Oladipo hit two 3-pointers and converted a 3-point play during a run that helped the Thunder take a 73-63 lead. Two night's before, as he customarily does (as many players customarily do), Westbrook sneaked a long look at the stat sheet.

Oladipo momentarily bobbled the ball. That lone game may doom Westbrook's chances of earning NBA MVP honors for the first time in his career because it underscores the biggest issue in his candidacy-winning.
