Le'Veon Bell having groin surgery but should be ready for OTAs

Since missing most of the Pittsburgh Steelers' AFC Championship Game loss to the New England Patriots, running back Le'Veon Bell has talked about a groin injury that was never disclosed on an official injury report. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be as an injury derailed his historic postseason.

The Steelers running back underwent successful surgery on his groin Monday, and said he is already feeling better. Bell delayed the procedure, and Rapoport indicated last month it was unlikely he needed surgery. With the 2017 season approaching, the Steelers star took his first step towards getting healthy for the upcoming season.

The timeline for Bell's recovery shouldn't impact his participation in offseason workouts. After the game, Bell admitted to reporters that he managed the groin injury for "a couple weeks" and aggravated it against the Patriots.

The NFL launched an investigation into why Pittsburgh omitted Bell's injury from report, which remains open.

On Saturday, a young Steelers fan named Ava Tarantino sent a message to Bell on Twitter suggesting that he come to her dance if the social media request garnered 500 retweets.

The Steelers placed the exclusive franchise tag on Bell before the March 1 deadline, which is worth over $12 million this year, as talks are ongoing regarding a long-term deal.
