The crash caused the Honda to slide sideways into a tree on a planting strip, trapping the 35-year-old male driver inside the vehicle.

The SUV continued down the road, and witnesses said as the driver tried to brake, he lost control and the SUV went airborne over curb, through a parking lot and into a Shell Gas Station. According to witnesses, the SUV was speeding and clipped the side of a Honda Accord before heading toward the gas station.

SeattleP-I.com reported Wednesday that the 35-year-old man was pronounced dead at Harborview Medical Center after dying sometime Tuesday.

The crash involved a 60-year-old Uber driver who was carrying a 40-year-old passenger, KOMO-TV reports. They said the SUV may have blown a tire.

Firefighters said one vehicle was split in two, and the driver was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, Seattle Fire said.

The passenger also went to the hospital for minor injuries. Police, who administered a sobriety test at the scene, later took a sample of the driver's blood for analysis. The company says it will work with the Seattle Police Department during its investigation into the accident.
