EPL leader Chelsea beats Stoke 2-1 through late Cahill goal

Antonio Conte will not tolerate any complacency as Chelsea attempt to take their next step towards the English Premier League title at Stoke tonight.

Right wing-back Moses had been a doubt for the trip to the bet365 Stadium, having failed to finish Monday's FA Cup quarter-final clash with Manchester United due to a calf injury.

Asked if he thought Stoke had deliberately set out to rile Costa, Conte replied: "I think that it's normal to try to bring a player to be angry and then to react and to commit another foul".

The Chelsea celebrations at full-time suggested they appreciated the magnitude of a victory which inched them ever closer to a seemingly inevitable title triumph.

Gary Cahill atoned for conceding a penalty by scoring the late victor that saw Chelsea extend their lead at the top of the Premier League to 13 points.

A lively first half saw Willian open the scoring for the visitors with a deft free-kick and the home side equalising via a debatable penalty conceded by Cahill. I'm very pleased because my players showed me a great will to win but also they were prepared to fight to win this game.

Though one could wonder if Lee Grant could have done better with the effort from the Brazilian.

Stoke ended the game with 10 men after Phil Bardsley was dismissed for a second bookable offence, following a foul on abregas.

Jonathan Walters strikes from the spot for Stoke's equaliser.

Nonetheless, despite there still being much to play for over the coming months, speculation is already building about who Conte could look to sign in the summer, and two Everton stars are the latest to be linked with Stamford Bridge, namely Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku.

This was only the second Premier League game of the season where hazard didn't start for Chelsea.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, meanwhile, predictably defended the behaviour of his talismanic striker after today's game.

Willian gave the Blues the lead in the 13th minute after he sneaked in cheeky free-kick from a crossing position into the near post.

DF Kurt Zouma, NR - Replaced Willian after Cahill scored and added weight to Chelsea's defence.
