Iranians to perform Haj this year

Saudi Arabia says Iranian citizens will attend this year's annual Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca, after missing last year's event following a bitter rift between Riyadh and Tehran.

"The ministry of Hajj and the Iranian organisation have completed all the necessary measures to ensure Iranian pilgrims perform Hajj 1438 according to the procedures followed by all Muslim countries", the official Saudi Press Agency said, referring to this year in the Islamic calendar.

After losing market share to Russian Federation previous year, Saudi Arabia has sought to boost oil sales to China, the world's second-largest oil market, by working mostly with China's top three state oil firms. Saudi Arabia has still refrained from paying the money for those killed in the bitter incident in Mecca. "The heartless and murderous Saudis locked up the injured with the dead in containers-instead of providing medical treatment and helping them or at least quenching their thirst", Khamenei said at the time. Prince Mohammed expressed his regrets that Saudi Arabia did not apply this experience earlier on the Saudi-Yemeni border, noting that the success of the northern border experience will accelerate applying it on the Saudi southern border.

Ahmed bin Misfir Al-Ghamdi, deputy president of Saudi Telecom Company (STC), said the king's visit to Asia reflects the Kingdom's leading role in serving Islam and all people.

Last year, China also offered support for Yemen's government, which is backed by a Saudi-led Arabian Gulf coalition in a war against the Iranian proxies the Houthi movement that controls large parts of the country, despite suffering serious setbacks during the conflict. Saudi Arabia put the death toll at 769, whereas independent counts by countries repatriating bodies suggest as many as 2,426 people may have died.
