Jackson gets rolling as Tar Heels cruise past Tigers

Arkansas wants to wear out opponents.

- For the third time in 10 seasons, North Carolina stands between Arkansas and a berth in the Sweet 16.

"That's what we do", Arkansas guard Dusty Hannahs said in attempting to keep a brisk pace and aiming to come out on the better end against a worn out foe. As we mentioned Thursday in our post about the Villanova-Mount St. Mary's game, no. 16 seed has ever beaten a one in the NCAA Tournament.

Joel Berry plays. To be fair, the Tar Heels are deep enough to beat Arkansas even if Berry sits it out.

North Carolina went 2-2 in its last four games entering the tournament, so Friday's outing should serve as a good confidence booster. "They do want to speed you up and we want to play at that pace ourselves. Most of our guys played in that game so we can take that experience going into this game". But we can't go out and draft anybody.

Eighth-seeded Arkansas was anxious to play fast in its 77-71 conquest of Seton Hall in the first round.

"He's really got a great ability to get the ball to the basket and finish", Williams said.

And I guess that says that, you know what, when you get in this tournament and you start advancing, you're going to play outstanding teams.

Anderson, 128-73 in his sixth season at Arkansas, has the Razorbacks in the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three seasons.

But the Razorbacks went minus 14 rebounding hole against Seton Hall yet won the game forcing 15 Seton Hall turnovers while their depth wore down Seton Hall's seven-man rotation. Berry returned to the action briefly.

"I watched the Arkansas and Seton Hall game and I'm not too anxious", said Lindsay.

"I'm never a guy to let something like this stop me from playing", Berry said. Justin Jackson might be the ACC Player of the Year, Kennedy Meeks might be the force down low, but Berry is unquestionably the leader of this team. With five 3s in the Texas Southern game, he has 95 this season.

BEARCATS' MILESTONES: Mick Cronin's Bearcats (30-5) reached the 30-win mark for the second time by beating Kansas State in Friday's first round, joining their 2001-02 team.

Berry said he remembered taking on the Razorbacks when he was a freshman. "It was tiring, but that's what it is supposed to be like".

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Grayson Allen had 21 points off five 3-pointers, Jayson Tatum had 18 points and 12 rebounds, and second-seeded Duke continued its flawless postseason with an 87-65 victory over Troy in the NCAA Tournament on Friday night to start the East Region.

"We can't always just outscore teams and that's what we want to focus on tomorrow and the rest of the tournament, is being able to take teams on with (defense)", Britt said. "If we do that (Sunday), we'll have a good shot of beating them again".

The games moved to SC - the state's first chance to host since 2002 - after it removed the Confederate flag from state capitol grounds in 2015.
