Matthew Perry Beat Up Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Grade School

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took Ivanka Trump to a Broadway show about showing kindness to foreigners on Wednesday evening.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau speaks to the audience before the start of the Broadway musical "Come From Away", in NY, on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. Mr Trudeau and Perry, who of course plays Chandler in the cult sitcom, went to school together in Ottawa in Canada but were not always the best of friends. In an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the former F.R.I.E.N.D.S star revealed that he and a classmate ganged up to beat up the fellow Canadian - out of pure jealousy.

"I think it was instrumental in him going to such great heights and becoming the prime minister", Perry said.

The actor knows that what he did was totally wrong: "I'm not bragging about this bad thing-I was a stupid kid".

"I have a story about him that I'm not proud of", Perry said. "I think he was the only kid in school that we could beat up".

Check out the full segment above. "But I don't think that's the reason we beat him up", he said. "I was a stupid kid". Also in attendance were Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland, former Canadian prime minister Jean Chrétien, and 600 people - including 125 United Nations ambassadors - with the Consulate General of Canada in NY. "Don't they have secret service there protecting the children of prime ministers?"

The 47-year-old actor joked that it was this beat down that helped make Trudeau the world leader that he is today. "And, you know, we beat him up", the Friends actor recalled. She found a job working for the Liberal Party and eventually became the press aide to Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau.

Despite the theme of the show, The New York Times said Trudeau did not outright speak on the role of government in immigration policy, but spoke instead about the show, which he saw for the first time that night. "I don't want to think about it".
