However, a new report from Yahoo Finance says that we might have to wait a bit longer because of production issues.

The company's first official smartwatch, as well as an upcoming pair of Bluetooth headphones, have been plagued by production issues, including problems with the watch's Global Positioning System antennae and challenges around waterproofing the device, the report says. "They had to go back to the drawing board to redesign the product..." sources who spoke to Yahoo Finance said. The team is also having problems making the smartwatch waterproof, and it suggests the company could launch it without this feature. "In one of the more final prototypes, the Global Positioning System wasn't working because the antennae wasn't in the right place", Yahoo's source said. It remains unclear whether the Fitbit smartwatch will be dubbed as waterproof when it's eventually launched later this year.

The fitness tracker company's smartwatch project has been a troubled one. "It's literally sink or swim time for them". The wireless buds are planned to be worn over the neck and will come in two colors, named "Nightfall Blue" and "Lunar Gray".

With regards to the screen, sources say the Fitbit smartwatch will be released with a color display similar to that of Apple Inc. Apart from Global Positioning System and water resistance, the watch will support contactless payments, heart rate sensor, integration with Pandora, respectable 4 days of battery and 1,000 nits of display brightness. It also reported the watch is set to cost $300. But, this feature is still negotiable, and if push comes to shove, the company might just launch the smartwatch without it, seeing that not all of Fitbit's other devices are necessarily waterproof.
