Wal-Mart to discount online-only items delivered to stores

Wal-Mart Stores Inc (NYSE:WMT) traded at a yearly high level of $75.19 during the last trading session.

The discount will be highlighted on the product's detail page, when available.

And Walmart has shown a fresh appetite for acquisitions, scooping up quirky women's apparel website ModCloth and dropping $51 million on the online outdoors retailer Moosejaw. (WMT) may be overvalued, however, this can also depend upon the situation of the market; if the market is strong then it could suggest that Wal-Mart Stores Inc. The CEO of Walmart's USA e-commerce business and founder of added: "It costs us less to ship to stores, so our customers should share in those savings".

The retailer said it will reduce free shipping time to two days on 2 million of its most popular items including essentials like diapers and pet food as well as hot toys and electronics.

The number of employees affected by the layoffs was not immediately known. And, most importantly for Walmart, they're doing that spending with Walmart, not Amazon.

Looking ahead, Lore promises there's more to come. Latest closing price was 18.31% above its 50-day moving average and 39.69% above its 200-day moving average. The shoppers will incur most and in some instances all the shipping costs that the company would have incurred while delivering the same items at consumers homes. It's also testing a grocery store in Seattle that features automated checkout.

Although Wal-Mart is well behind Amazon in e-commerce, Wal-Mart has the scale and resources to make a much bigger splash in online shopping. The Company operates through three segments: Walmart U.S., Walmart International and Sam's Club. And the company will hire 10,000 workers through new store openings, he said.

The program, "Pickup Discount", will roll out on April 19. Higher expenses, lower margins at Wal-Mart U.S. and currency headwinds are expected to affect the results.

A current consensus EPS estimate for next quarter is at $1.07 and 3 month ago EPS forecast was $1.07.

The cuts are part of Wal-Mart's ongoing efforts to manage costs and restructure its business.

At a shareholder meeting past year, Buffett said Amazon is "a big, big force" that has "already disrupted plenty of people and it will disrupt more".

One of the things I love most about Walmart's heritage is the maniacal focus on our customers and finding ways to offer them low prices - every day. For the customer, it's a trip to Walmart, which many will be happy to do if they just saved tens or even hundreds of dollars.

In taking a look at some other notable technicals, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. The change is predictable to improve the retailer's competitive advantage by making its 4,700 USA stores more relevant to shoppers in a digital age, analysts said.
