More than 21000 expected at Trump's first Easter Egg Roll

More than 21000 expected at Trump's first Easter Egg Roll

The tradition goes back to the early 1800s when First Lady Dolley Madison invited local children to an egg-rolling event on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol.

The official says President Donald Trump's wife, 46, and his youngest child, 11, will relocate from their $100 million penthouse apartment in New York City's Trump Tower to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C., after Barron completes his current school year.

The gaffe came shortly after the President gave a speech beside a person dressed as the Easter Bunny, telling a crowd of children that "we will be stronger and bigger as a nation than ever before". The first lady's spokeswoman said she wanted to focus on the more traditional aspects of the longtime Easter Egg Roll.

Children and families roamed the White House lawn at Monday's event, pushing wooden eggs across the grass with oversized spoons, playing beanbag games and coloring drawings that are being sent to USA troops stationed overseas. That's down from the 35,000 people who attended previous year.

President Donald Trump returned to Washington, DC on Monday for a very important event. This year, Trump's event will mark a return to tradition.

Families attended dressed in their Easter best, and for some that even meant bunny ears.

One of Mr Trump's latest faux pas saw him refusing to shake the hand of German Chancellor Angela Merkel during their first diplomatic meeting.

"Everyone at the White House is very excited about (Monday's) Easter Egg Roll".

A senior White House aide was quoted as saying that the first lady has been directly involved in arranging the house at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for the summer time move. Wells Wood Turning, the ME company that has manufactured the commemorative wooden eggs in years past, sent a frantic tweet on February 20 to President Trump and other members of the first family, warning that a manufacturing deadline was looming. He said 18,000 eggs have been ordered, "which is in line for years past".

We recently asked you to support our journalism. Pop star Fergie was the musical guest in 2009, and performers over the years included Justin Bieber, Janelle Monae and Ariana Grande.

"Melania has spent a lot less time in Palm Beach since Barron has been in school", the source said to PEOPLE.

The Obama administration enlisted C3 Presents, an event production company that worked on its campaign events, as well as the Coachella music festival, to help produce the egg roll, per McFly.

The Trumps hosted a scaled-down version of the event. This year, the biggest talent was the Martin Family Circus, a family band which played to a mostly empty crowd for much of the morning.
