Middlesbrough: Agnew backs Boro duo

Middlesbrough: Agnew backs Boro duo

"I'm edging towards Arsenal, they have to do something for the manager".

Middlesbrough remain firmly in the drop zone after they could only record a 0-0 draw at the Riverside against Burnley last weekend, a result that left them six points behind Hull City and safety (although Boro do have a game in hand).

However, as the Wearside club appear increasingly unlikely to make it five in a row, Steve Agnew is confident that Middlesbrough can continue the recent tradition for northeast clubs surviving against the odds.

"There are more points to play for and nobody in the bottom three is pulling up trees and running clear".

"Bournemouth will be a bit twitchy on Saturday because they haven't won that many so we need to put the pressure on them".

Indeed, the north London side have lost their last four games on the road in the Premier League after losing to Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Liverpool and West Bromwich Albion.

The home crowd could be important, and if the few Arsenal fans that are there start showing displeasure if we don't start scoring early, it could be another uncomfortable afternoon for Arsene Wenger.

"We tried everything we could from a tactical point of view". The crowd expected the net to bulge but Ayala's diving header was poorly directed.

"Either side and it's a goal - Dani did everything he could".

"This group don't know how to give in and they will never, ever stop", he said. "That's what we'll do we will prepare for Bournemouth and go down there with plenty of confidence".
