Pacers could have Glenn Robinson III back for Game 2

Pacers could have Glenn Robinson III back for Game 2

Whether it was first-game jitters or evenly matched opponents, it wasn't easy for the favorites Saturday. I don't care what happens.

"Good defense" was little represented on both sides, especially with IN having real issues defending LeBron James and the pick-and-roll, but the Cavs couldn't capitalize as much as they should have. James was solid despite a game-high eight turnovers, contributing 25 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.

San Antonio looked as if it might be in trouble - for 10 minutes.

Sure, it was early in the game, but Bird didn't care.

The Cavs say they made the play they wanted to make at the end, forcing Pacers star Paul George to give the ball up to Miles, who was initially covered before shaking free from Richard Jefferson just before releasing the ball. The shape of this series has been to see every missed shot be a heartbreaking one when looking at the lack of explosiveness around him.

Cleveland Cavaliers' Kevin Love (0) shoots over Indiana Pacers' Thaddeus Young (21) in the first half in Game 2 of a first-round NBA basketball playoff series, Monday, April 17, 2017, in Cleveland.

From James' perspective, however, Cleveland is right on track with two wins in two games.

KEEP AN EYE ON: Cleveland's free-throw shooting. His body language has to improve, just for the team.

Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue said Smith "tried to give it a go" for the third quarter, but said "it wasn't smart" to play. "He's just got to channel that and put it towards making effort plays on the court and do whatever he needs for us to succeed". The playoffs are about adjustments and what you can do better. If the Pacers continue to let them get those opportunities, they will get burned from deep. "But we'll be better".

Pacers: Glenn Robinson III returned after missing the past 12 games with a strained left calf.

Double-teaming Paul George sparked a run. Indiana's All-Star made it clear after Game 1 he needs to take the last shot.

The Cavaliers are going to face more challenges, tougher challenges, than the ones the Pacers have given them.

Grizzlies at Spurs, San Antonio leads 1-0.

Update (11:48 p.m. EDT): He ain't happy.

NEED TO KNOW: The Spurs have won nine straight in the postseason against Memphis, sweeping series in 2013 and 2016. Stephenson started cold shooting, but wound up with 13 points. Iman Shumpert, who sat out the opener, replaced Smith and played 20 solid minutes. Love had averaged 11.1 rebounds per game in the regular season but had only four in Game One. On Monday, he scored 13 points in 26 minutes, but he picked up four personal fouls.
