The sporting icon announced she and the Reddit co-founder were to tie the knot after just over a year of dating with a poem posted on her verified Reddit account. Congratulations had begun to pour in from fellow players and tennis organizations on social media, but the WTA Tour deleted its post.

Australians Evonne Goolagong and Margaret Court also won Grand Slam titles after having children. She had been slated to play at the BNP Paribas Open but she pulled out the day it started, March 7, because of a knee injury. Her record of 39 major titles puts her third on the all-time list and second in the open era: 23 in singles, 14 in women's doubles, and 2 in mixed doubles.

If the news is true, the athlete has clearly taken some lessons in keeping secrets from her BFF Beyonce. "20 weeks", she captioned the pic. She has won two of the last three grand slam titles, and 10 of 19 since teaming up with her coach Patrick Mouratoglou in 2012.

There was no official word from her management company, either to confirm or deny.

She said on Instagram earlier this week that she was "fighting" to get up.

"I'm a black woman, and I am in a sport that wasn't really meant for black people".

Pregnancy has not slowed the Olympic gold-winning tennis star down. "Together we can change the future". Back in 2014, Serena admitted to "desperately" wanting a husband and kids during a Twitter Q&A.
