Call of Duty Counts Down to WWII

Even if you missed this news, it was more than obvious Call of Duty needed to make a change soon.

The return to a historical setting is unsurprising after the backlash to more recent entries in the series.

It's official, after much speculation fueled by Sledgehammer Games's statement that Call of Duty is going back to its roots, Call of Duty WWII has been announced.

Amazon UK has put up their listing for Call of Duty: WWII, revealing the box art and platforms (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC). The game will feature a WW2 era setting, depictions and story and will have a feel of the Battlefield 1 released previous year. At one point more people gravitated to the former, especially during Call of Duty's WW2 days - which the upcoming game is rumored to be exploring this time around. According to the series' website, the livestream will take place next week on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 10:00 am PT and 1:00 pm ET.

Are you hyped about the upcoming Call of Duty World War II title? So, it is possible that in near future, Call of Duty WW2 will become available on Nintendo Switch as well.

"Sales underperformed our expectations, and it's clear that for a portion of our audience, the space setting just didn't resonate", Activision chief operating officer, Thomas Tippl, said during Activision's Q4 2016 earnings summary.

The newest game in the "Call of Duty" franchise is being created by Sledgehammer Games, the same studio behind "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare".

We don't know any details beyond the name and poster, and that it's being developed by Sledghammer Games.
