Microsoft will offer biannual feature updates to Windows 10

In addition to confirming the release of Windows 10 Redstone 3, Microsoft has also talked about support plans for its operating system and for its main application, MS Office. By the time the end of Windows 7's 10 year life cycle support period arrives in January 2020, Microsoft will have almost three years of working within this new twice a year release cadence and will have the system well established. This Windows 10 version 1703 update, more commonly known as Windows 10 Creators Update, brings about tons of new features and functionalities design to make life easier for creative professionals, gamers among other users.

The first opportunity most users will have to apply Power Throttling will be with 2017's second feature upgrade.

With the Creators Update now out in the wild, Microsoft is already hard at work on the next major Windows 10 update, promised for September. One way to convince you to pull the trigger is trying to prevent your laptop from receiving system updates meant to keep your PC safe.

Users who want access to the latest and greatest features right away can get access to new functionality in the months between releases, however.

Microsoft's blog post says the company is now "aligning the servicing models" for its Windows 10, Office 365Pro Plus and System Centre Configuration Manager products.

And it added: "Because of how this support policy is implemented, Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 devices that have a seventh generation or a later generation processor may no longer be able to scan or download updates through Windows Update or Microsoft Update".

Microsoft has committed to rolling out major updates for Windows 10 according to a fixed, six-monthly schedule.

Target does not necessarily mean that the next feature update will be released in September.

Microsoft's stance remains that it will support the two last Current Branch for Business releases. Combine the planning, preparation, and training into one cycle and you can easily see some cost savings because the focus will be on both Windows 10 and Office 365 feature updates instead of one at a time.

It also includes an all-new Paint 3D app which makes it easier than ever to build and create 3D models and items.
