Chicago Bulls: 3 potential consequences of trading Jimmy Butler

As it relates to the Celtics, if they really want Butler it will likely take a major haul.

For the longest time, that rumored star has been Chicago Bulls' biggest star: Jimmy Butler.

First, it was reported Monday the Boston Celtics have interest in flipping the No. 3 pick for the Bulls forward.

Jimmy Butler speculation has buzzed anew since news broke Friday that the Celtics and 76ers are poised to swap the first and third picks in Thursday's National Basketball Association draft, with the Celtics adding another future first-round pick to their already deep vault of assets.

"The worst case scenario is they find themselves in a position to draft somebody like a Josh Jackson out of Kansas".

But trading away for the chance to draft Fultz is a risk Celtics GM Danny Ainge is willing to take-and it's calculated risks that's gotten him to this point, with assets on top of assets along with cap space and a roster that advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals last month.

The more assets the Celtics have, the more assets the Bulls would ask for in a potential deal.

"The Boston Celtics are planning on acquiring Jimmy Butler", Smith added. In March, a front-office execute told The Ringer that Butler was "as good as gone" from Chicago and would push the Bulls front office to trade him this summer. "They don't know if they'll be able to, but their hope is that they'll be able to use the No. 3 pick, get themselves Jimmy Butler, go into free agency and get Gordon Hayward".
