Kaepernick captioned his tweet: 'The quarterback captioned the image: 'A system that perpetually condones the killing of people, without outcome, doesn't need to be revised, it needs to be dismantled!'

Kaepernick tweeted his displeasure with the verdict, with a graphic reading "You can't ignore your history - always remember who they are".

On Friday, a Minnesota jury acquitted St. Anthony, Minnesota, police officer Jeronimo Yanez of second-degree manslaughter charges in the shooting of Philando Castile. Reynolds says in the footage that the couple was pulled over for a broken tail light, adding that the "police shot him for no apparent reason, no reason at all". His girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds, the driver in the auto along with her 4-year-old daughter, live-streamed the aftermath to Facebook.

Yanez was also charged with two felony counts of intentional discharge of a firearm that endangers safety because Reynolds and her four-year-old daughter were also in the auto at the time of the shooting.

The decision to dismiss Yanez came after he was found not guilty on all counts related to the incident.

Speaking after the verdict, Castile's mother, Valerie Castile, said her son was "murdered".

"I'm mad as hell right now".

Kaepernick, 29, caused controversy in his final year (2016) with the 49ers by refusing to stand for the National Anthem at football games.

"You call yourself a good cop, but you see one of your colleagues beating somebody", she said.
