Darshan Lal will coordinate between four Pakistani provinces as a minister of state in Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi's cabinet, media reports said.

Lal reportedly used to practice as a doctor in Mirpur Mathelo town in Ghotki district of Sindh province.

His new cabinet that was sworn in is dominated by allies of ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif. The 65-year-old was elected to the national assembly for the second time on PML-N ticket on a reserved seat for minorities. The last foreign minister was Hina Rabbani Khar.

Ishaq Dar, a powerful finance minister, returns in the same role, despite a criminal investigation ordered against him by the Supreme Court.

President Mamnoon Hussain said a stronger Upper House will ensure a stronger State of the Federal character. The new prime minister is an ally of Nawaz Sharif and was formerly the petroleum minister. "It's a massive cabinet".

On the other hand security department told in its report that PML-N candidate victory in NA-120 constituency is very thin that way CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif had early chose to also contest election from Okara constituency.

Although the appointment of a full-time foreign minister is only one of the numerous problems the new PM has successfully dealt with, problems like looming power shortage, faltering economic growth and the long-term unfolding of the outcomes of CPEC are likely to decide the PML-N's fate for the upcoming general elections.

Nawaz Sharif resigned last week after the Supreme Court disqualified him for not declaring a source of income he denies receiving.

The inclusion of five politicians from south Punjab aimed to nail down their loyalties ahead of the 2018 contest, analyst Hussain said.
