LG's V30 will sport the first ever plastic OLED display

LG's V30 will sport the first ever plastic OLED display

We have heard a number of rumors about the new LG V30 smartphone.

The LG G7 is expected to launch in January 2018, as usual, but LG will attempt to buffer out the remainder of 2017 with another release in the UK, USA and Europe in the form of the LG V30.

Use of plastic OLED also enabled LG to make the display to be slightly curved along the edges. The company claimed it reduced the bezels at the top and bottom by 20 percent and 50 percent, respectively.

We already know that LG's V30 will be unveiled on August 31 at IFA in Berlin.

However, LG Electronics Mobile Communications President, Juno Cho, stated that an expertise in OLED has always been the company's core competency and the technology has been spotted as a potential value-add for handsets.

Everything should look suitably EPIC on the display as well, thanks to its HDR10 support and 148% sRGB and 109% DCI-P3 color gamuts. The company describes the display as a 6-inch FullVision display with an 18:9 ratio.

LG says that the 6in screen will be the largest on a phone that it has released for four years, but added that the device will be smaller than last year's V20.

Today LG has treated us to some news about the V30's display and its interesting to say the least.

Android Authority also shared some exclusive information about the LG V30 smartphone, particularly about the second screen seen on the predecessors. An LG logo that is usually located on the bottom of the device is likely to be removed to allow more space.

Leaks believe the LG V30 will still have a 3.5mm headphone jack, and the secondary ticker display won't be missing completely. The V20 was the handset where LG included support for 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC for high quality audio playback.

The shift from LCD to OLED "marks a move by LG to extend its OLED leadership from the premium TV sector into the premium smartphone space", said an LG spokesman. The phone's screen will come with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. And the upcoming LG V30 will be delivering even better multimedia experience.
