Anquan Boldin signing with the Bills

It's unclear how - if at all - involved the Ravens were in the fight for Boldin after signing wide receiver Jeremy Maclin earlier in the offseason.

Anquan Boldin, a 15-year vet, signed on the dotted line on Monday, joining the Bills on a one-year, $2.75 million deal.

Boldin struggled to get separation from defenders last season, but he continued to be reliable, catching 67 passes for 584 yards and a team-high 8 touchdowns for the Lions.

Previously, Boldin also played for the Baltimore Ravens with current Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor.

Beane said the addition of Boldin is not a knock against any depth players at the position on the team now. Boldin made a visit to Buffalo on July 24.

Boldin then played with the 49ers from 2013 to 2015 before landing with the Lions previous year. "Another thing is that this was an important family decision", Beane said. He has 1,076 catches, 13,779 yards and 82 touchdowns. "Listen, I've been a big Anquan fan from afar".

For more from Beane on Boldin, see the attached video above. The 6-foot-1, 218-pounder played seven years with the Cardinals and played in the Super Bowl following the 2008 season that Arizona lost to the Steelers. Seven of his touchdowns came when he was lined up in the slot, the second-most from that position in the National Football League last season behind only Sterling Shepard of the Giants. You're talking about a (Walter Payton) Man of the Year and he's ninth all-time in receptions. "In my opinion, he's a Hall of Famer and he'll teach guys how to be a pro".
