Amy Schumer to Star on Broadway

According to production notes: 'Get ready for the unexpected when Norm and his wife Corky invite another couple to their Ojai backyard to watch a meteor shower in the night sky.

Schumer will be joined by Keegan-Michael Key, Laura Benanti and Alan Tudyk (Too-diek). For Amy, the casting announcement comes after she dropped out of starring in the live-action "Barbie" movie earlier this year due to "scheduling conflicts".

The design team for Meteor Shower includes Tony Award-winner Beowulf Borritt (Scenic Design), Tony and Academy Award-winner Ann Roth (Costume Design), six-time Tony Award-winner Natasha Katz (Lighting Design), and two-time Drama Desk Award-winner Fitz Patton (Sound Design).

The brassy personality behind Comedy Central's "Inside Amy Schumer" will make her Broadway debut in Martin's offbeat, four-person production, which moves to the big leagues in November.

'A meteor shower actually came to me first, ' the actor, 71, said. And when I started to think about who everybody is (in the play), that's when it got worthy.

Meteor Shower is set to begin previews on November 1 at the Booth Theatre and will have its opening night on November 29.

Last year, Martin's first musical, Bright Star, wrapped its Broadway run, for which it was nominated for 5 Tonys: Best Musical, Best Book, Best Original Score, Best Lead Actress in a Musical, and Best Orchestrations. The show was previously staged, without Schumer, at the Long Wharf theatre in New Haven, Connecticut, and the Old Globe in San Diego. She also will star in and produce the comedy feature "I Feel Pretty", and plays a supporting role in DreamWorks' upcoming PTSD drama "Thank You for Your Service", the directorial debut of "American Sniper" screenwriter Jason Hall.
