Overwatch Deathmatch Mode Revealed

Overwatch Deathmatch Mode Revealed

In Deathmatch players will find modified versions of maps already present in Overwatch. Mercy resurrections will take kills away from the other team's total score. Now the developers Blizzard has announced that the game will finally bring the free-for-all and team deathmatch to the game alongside a new deathmatch-focused map.

The first deathmatch mode is called "free-for-all", which will pit seven individuals against each other in a race to see who can rack up 20 eliminations first.

But don't be jumping onto Battle.net to patch the game just yet - the new mode and map is now only available in the Public Test Region for PC users. Additionally, story elements for the character will be sprinkled throughout the map similar to Winston and the Horizon Lunar Colony map. YouTube channel Overwatch Central has made a flyover video of the new map to get a taste of what we can expect from deathmatch's terrain. Bear in mind that although there can only be one victor of this mode, Jeff Kaplan did reveal that if you place in the top half of the scoreboard at the end of the game, it'll count as a win towards you earning your Loot Boxes in the Arcade for the week. So, it wasn't necessarily a surprise when the game launched past year with only tactical team-focused game modes, like Escort and Assault, while lacking the classic shooter game modes: FFA and Deathmatch.

Deathmatch mode is live now on Overwatch's public test realm, which means that it should be available in the live game shortly. Regular Deathmatch is restricted to eight players only, while Team Deathmatch supports the standard 6v6 make up. "Both modes will be available for play in Custom Games".

What do you think of the addition of deathmatch to Overwatch?

Add to the modes, Blizzard is also introducing a new map that is exclusively created for deathmatch.
