Child crushed to death by Nawaz Sharif's motorcade

Addressing a huge gathering in Gujarat on the third day of his journey from Islamabad to Lahore via the Grand Trunk (GT) Road to display his political might, Sharif said even the judges who disqualified him failed to point out a single example of corruption against him.

Aug.12: Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif's cavalcade left for Lahore from Gujranwala on Saturday.

The polling for the election will be held on September 17.

Kulsoom did not appear in person before the returning officer at the Election Commission of Pakistan's office here and Asif Kirmani and Captain (r) Safdar along with their lawyers filed her papers that also include details of assets owned by her and her family members along with other documents required as per rules.

The National Assembly seat fell vacant after 67-year-old Sharif was disqualified by the Supreme Court in the Panamagate case on July 28.

Sharif had been rallying crowds since Wednesday weeks after his sacking by the Supreme Court due to corruption charges.

Moreover, Sharif expressed confidence that he will be elected as Prime Minister of Pakistan for the fourth time. While naming Nawaz Sharif, he should tell everyone who is conspiring against him. All the areas around the route will be sealed.

The "homecoming rally" made first stop at Muridke where Nawaz Sharif addressed the people.

"The parties that were going into a different direction in Balochistan, were brought into the mainstream. Today, motorways are being made throughout the country and the economic resurgence is underway", he continued.

"You sent me to Islamabad but they (judges) have sent me back to home", he said.

Nawaz also pledged his loyalty to the public and said that he would never betray them.

"I don't expect you to reinstate me, but I want you to support me for the betterment of this country. Promise me you won't allow your prime minister to be humiliated this way", he said. "If I was corrupt then I would have been ashamed", he said.

He said that the nation will avenge everything that had been done with him. "We would have to make sure that your vote is respected".

The child, identified as Ahmad, was among a crowd of supporters gathered to greet Nawaz Sharif as his motorcade passed through Lalamusa.
