Concern for Man City's Ederson after Mane challenge

Guardiola absolved Mane of any intent and said Ederson had escaped serious injury.

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola says Sadio Mane's red card helped City demolish Liverpool 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium.

Mane had an excellent debut season previous year following his £34 million move to Anfield from Southampton, finishing the season with 13 goals in 27 league games for Jurgen Klopp's side.

The £35m summer signing had to be taken off on a stretcher with an oxygen mask on his face after eight minutes of treatment.

City confirmed he had not suffered concussion but he was taken to City's nearby Etihad Campus medical department for an assessment. "He will be more lovely after that".

He added: "Maybe he won't play in the next game".

"I don't think he will play the next game but it's ok. I didn't speak about the decision when we had Kyle Walker sent off against Everton so I will not now", he said.

Guardiola's side are back in action on Wednesday against Feyenoord and Chile worldwide Claudio Bravo could deputise for Ederson.

The incident came with City leading through a Sergio Aguero strike.

He also pipped fellow Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah and Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata.

"It was one game at 11v11, it was equal, we both had chances, but the game was equal".
