S.Korea's Moon discusses 'unpredictable' N.Korea situation with Putin

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said Wednesday that China remains strongly opposed to it.

South Korea's Defence Ministry said the four remaining batteries of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system would be deployed on a golf course in the south of the country on Thursday.

A Seongju police official says police have dispersed most of the protesters and the US military will be able to move four launchers and construction equipment into the site soon.

Thousands of police were deployed near the THAAD site, located in a remote southeastern area of the country, to clear the way for the US convoy carrying the four additional launchers and other equipment.

They have raised worries over rumored health hazards linked to the system's powerful radar and the possibility that the town will become a target of North Korean attacks.

"At the same time, it is clear that it is impossible to resolve the problem of the Korean peninsula only by sanctions and pressure", he said.

Moreover, as the reckless and belligerent statements from Trump and his officials demonstrate, North Korea's limited nuclear weaponry and reactionary nationalist bombast will not prevent the United States from using its military might, including its huge nuclear arsenal, against the North Korean people.

"Moreover, it will exacerbate the tensions and confrontation on the Korean Peninsula and complicate the Korean Peninsula issue", he said on Wednesday.

Officials stressed the government's stance that the additional launchers are a "tentative" measure resulting from the urgent threat posed by North Korea.

US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley called for another round of sanctions against Pyongyang on Monday during an emergency meeting of the Security Council.

"We should not give in to emotions and push Pyongyang into a corner", Mr Putin said in a news conference after meeting Mr Moon.

North Korea on Sunday detonated a hydrogen bomb that can be carried by an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), North Korea's Central Television announced.

South Korean officials believe more provocation from the reclusive state is possible, despite worldwide outrage over Sunday's test and calls for more sanctions on North Korea. "The cooperation between Russian Federation and Japan reaches beyond Russia's Far East", said Putin, who invited Abe to attend another economic forum to be held in St. Petersburg in May.

Sanctions have so far done little to stop North Korea boosting its nuclear and missile capacity as it faces off with US President Donald Trump, who has vowed to stop Pyongyang from being able to hit the US mainland with a nuclear weapon. He sought to obscure the differences by stating that Song's comments "were meant in the sense of exploring every available option militarily and identifying a realistic approach amid the severe nuclear and missile threat, including North Korea's sixth nuclear test".
