Cara Mund: Miss North Dakota Is the New Miss America 2018

Cara Mund, the 23-year-old Miss North Dakota, won the crown Sunday night in Atlantic City.

She criticized President Donald Trump for pulling out of the Paris climate change agreement.

Mund, who adopted the Make-a-Wish foundation which benefits children with life-threatening conditions as her platform for the competition, performed a jazz dance to "The Way You Make Me Feel" for the contest's talent portion, wearing a double-breasted black mini-dress with a matching fedora-type hat.

Miss Missouri, Jennifer Davis, did not answer the Trump-hating question "correctly", and now she is not Miss America.

"It's a bad decision", Mund said onstage. "Once we reject that, we take ourselves out of the negotiation table and that's something that we really need to keep in mind".

When she was 14 years old, Mund created an annual Make-A-Wish fashion show in North Dakota and worked to raise almost $80,000 for Make-A-Wish children - a charitable act so great, President Barak Obama took notice. The Ivy League honors graduate, who has a business degree from Brown University, has worked in the U.S. Senate as an internee.

"I think that the white supremacist issue, it was very obvious that it was a terrorist attack", she said. "She's been diagnosed with cancer three times".

She did also say she may not agree with all his opinions, but we all need to support the President.

A North Dakota native, Mund referenced Wentz in her acceptance speech.

"In health care and on reproductive rights, it's predominantly men making those decisions", she added.

Miss Missouri Jennifer Davis, who was later revealed to be the 1st runner up, was asked: "There are multiple investigations into whether Trump's campaign colluded with Russian Federation on the election. I'm thinking about everyone in Florida every single day", Miss Florida, Sara Zeng, said early in the broadcast. "They ruined the Miss America pageant with political correctness". Briana Kinsey from District of Columbia bagged the 3rd Runner-Up slot, and Miss Texas Margana Wood won 4th Runner-Up. She takes over for last year's victor, Miss Arkansas Savvy Shields.
