Matic issues strong warning to Man United teammates after Stoke draw

The FC crew evaluate Jose Mourinho's comments and his incident with Mark Hughes after Manchester United's draw at Stoke.

Maxim Choupo-Moting swept the Potters into the lead in the 43rd minute before Marcus Rashford deflected Paul Pogba's header home in the first minute of stoppage time in an eventful end to the first half. Both Phil Jones and Eric Bailly were poor. Should Stoke continue to play three at the back as well as they did against Manchester United then it's clear why Hughes needed so much strength there. It's early, they're top of the table and that's what ought to matter.

The former Man United striker pushed Mourinho when he entered the Stoke technical area and Mourinho refused to shake his opposite number's hand at the final whistle because he believed he was told to "f*** off" by the Welshman.

During his post-match interview, the Stoke City manager said: "I pushed him because he was in my technical area".

"It makes it look like it's my fault, my problem, and your question is not correct, I'm sorry".

"Sometimes, because they're not used to having to take negative results, sometimes they react in the wrong way".

Hughes was confused by Mourinho's behaviour, adding: "I seem to get involved in handshake issues". One team wanted to win, another team wanted to draw, but the team that wanted to draw fought hard for that.

Next up for Manchester United is their Champions League opener against Basel at Old Trafford while Stoke City get set to face Newcastle United.

"Goodness knows, we had too many free-kicks against us, but that wasn't because we're a physical team, it was because the referee misinterpreted too many things in my view".

"I thought we went toe to toe with them", he said.
