Surgery likely for Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson after wrist injury

Surgery likely for Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson after wrist injury

The guy is an incredible back and a fantasy monster.

During his Monday press conference, Cardinals' head coach Bruce Arians offered a pessimistic parallel between Johnson to another similarly injured running back on the team.

Kerwynn Williams and Andre Ellington are the primary running backs in Johnson's absence.

Rapoport added that Injured Reserve is a possibility for Johnson.

This isn't good. The Cardinals didn't look good yesterday and they lost their best player.

Left tackle D.J. Humphries, who left the game with a knee injury in the first quarter and never returned, will also miss "a few weeks" with a sprained right knee, according to Ian Rapoport. Start combing practice squads?

We will update this post when official word of Johnson's status comes, but for now it sounds as though the star back will miss significant time this season. It's an opportunity for somebody to step up.

That return without missing a game seems to be out the window now, if It was even realistic before.

This is the second straight game that Johnson suffered an injury.

Re-signing Chris Johnson, who was cut on September 2, could be an option, Arians said. Johnson dazzled for last year's Cardinals team, emerging as a full-time starter.

Johnson was limited to 23 yards rushing on 11 carries, and had six receptions for 68 yards.
