Bad news for David Johnson

Bad news for David Johnson

The Cardinals will have to lean on Kerwynn Williams and Andre Ellington in the running game in Johnson's absence.

Bruce Arians announced Monday afternoon that star running back David Johnson has a dislocated wrist and will probably require surgery.

It was the 24-yard reception that the health of Johnson was starting to become a question.

Johnson's x-rays came back negative but he'll undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the extent of the injury.

While Johnson broke his wrist, the Bills caught a break on Sunday when LeSean McCoy's wrist injury didn't turn out to be serious.

"He wants to find a way to play", Arians said of Johnson, via Arizona Sports 98.7.

The Cardinals will place Johnson on injured reserve, according to Schefter. He had 18 carries all of last season.

Arians said Johnson is seeking a second opinion. Johnson was a threat to gain 1,000 yards rushing and a 1,000 yards receiving. Past year he went for 2,118 total yards and is widely regarded as one of the league's best all-purpose running backs.

Chris Johnson re-signed with Arizona the day before training camp started.

Well, he's not going to be a fantasy monster for quite a long time this year.

Woodhead hurt his hamstring in Sunday's shutout win to open the season and it doesn't look good. Johnson went down in pain, but got up and tried to play. "But it's not the end of the world". Certainly, a wrist ligament could have been injured and not seen on video, but that type of injury doesn't happen with a direct blow.
