All eyes on today's finale of Independence Cup series

When will the third T20I between Pakistan and World XI of Independence Cup be played?

"ICC has done a tremendous job by supplementing the efforts of the Pakistan Cricket Board in bringing back global cricket and its role will always be remembered in Pakistan cricket history", he told APP here on Thursday ahead of the third and last T20 worldwide of the Independence Cup series.

Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed won the toss and opted to bat in the second Twenty20 worldwide against the World XI at Lahore's Gaddafi stadium on Wednesday. Most of these players have shown positive attitude towards playing in Pakistan and are excited about being a part of this monumental series.

Meantime, Pakistani skipper Sarfraz Ahmad said that it is a very important match for his team and they will be going all out to win. Zimbabwe had toured two years ago, but the ICC is involved in this, with some top cricketers from nearly all Test-playing nations participating.

"Cricket is a binding force and adds to national unity and brotherhood, it is the identity of Pakistan globally due to the country's excellence because of the team's success in World Cup years ago, and now in Champions Trophy", he said, adding "the resumption of global cricket will help in enhancing the confidence and experience of the players while playing in their own stadiums in front of lively crowds".

The World XI squad comprises of five players from South Africa, three from Australia, two from West Indies and one each from Bangladesh, England, Sri Lanka and New Zealand.

Even though cricket is back in the country, Latif believes that it would take Pakistan a year or two before it can host a full global series. See, this is a step by step progress.

"Right now we are compelled to play only in Lahore but obviously with time we will schedule matches at other Test venues like Karachi, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi and Multan", he noted. Maybe, the next step is to include an ODI with three T20 internationals. "With the gradual increase in the confidence level of worldwide players, we will move towards a full series", he added.

Richardson said that in the existing situation it didn't appear likely for India and Pakistan to resume bilateral ties soon.
