Preliminary results of Maxwell Gruver autopsy show evidence of alcohol, THC

According to the university's spokesman, 18-year-old Maxwell Raymond Gruver was pronounced dead at a Baton Rouge, Louisiana, hospital where he was taken because of a "medical emergency". According to the report, marked cerebral and pulmonary edema were observed, and the hospital blood and urine tests indicated a highly elevated blood alcohol level plus the presence of THC in Gruver's urine. Furthermore, President Alexander says that Phi Delta Theta, the fraternity involved in the investigation, has been suspended by the university and its national chapter. The most notable was the death of 19-year-old Timothy Piazza, who died in February after an alcohol-related hazing incident at Pennsylvania State University's Beta Theta Pi fraternity. "It will not be tolerated at LSU, period".

"The death of Maxwell Gruver was tragic and untimely".

The LSU Police Department is investigating the death.

"We're committed to investigating this situation thoroughly".

Nine members of the fraternity have also been reportedly forced to move out immediately, according to school officials.
