Formula One: Singapore extends contract to host night race until 2021

The race is organised by the government together with Singapore GP.

S. Iswaran, Minister of Singapore's Trade and Industry, said that the F1 Singapore Grand Prix has made significant revenue for the country's economy as well as motorsport's franchise.

Singapore is new territory for me, but I don't mind that at all.

THE Singapore Grand Prix is now a regular fixture on the Formula One calendar.

F1 bosses have also negotiated an additional three races, and have extended the deal for three years, to ensure reliable coverage of the main event for the French fans.

Meanwhile, Lionel Yeo, Chief Executive of the Singapore Tourism Board, stated that the race has provided an excellent platform for businesses to test bed new lifestyle initiatives and products.

"We are looking forward to offering our continued support to make the next four years even more spectacular and exciting".

The Singapore Grand Prix, whose 10th edition is on Sunday, has quickly become one of Formula One's best known races and is often compared to Monaco's classic street grand prix.

Sebastian Vettel is the dominant driver in Singapore, having won it four times.

"Over the years, the Singapore event has distinguished itself as one that is not just about the competition, but one complemented by a strong line-up of concerts, entertainment and lifestyle offerings both within the circuit park and throughout the city".

Asia will only host five out of the 21 races in 2018 as Malaysia goes off the calendar post this season.
