Red Sox fined for use of Apple Watch in dugout

Major League Baseball investigators determined earlier this month that the Red Sox were using an Apple Watch to steal catchers' signs from the Yankees during their August series in Boston.

Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred announced the Red Sox were guilty of the charge and fined them an undisclosed amount, but he also fined the Yankees a lesser amount for improper use of a bullpen phone during a previous season.

He gave up a run on five hits in six innings, leaving a 1-1 game before doubles by Dustin Pedroia, Andrew Benintendi and Mitch Moreland brought home two runs and made Pomeranz a victor in the bottom of the inning. "Maybe not his best command at times, he got behind some guys, but he made some big pitches when he had to", Melvin said after the game.

For the Red Sox, trailing by three runs entering the ninth inning against the Tampa Bay Rays, it meant possibly having their lead in the American League East cut to two measly games with 15 to play. That allowed the Red Sox to hold onto a three-game lead on the Yankees - who have won eight of 10 themselves - for the division crown with 16 games remaining.

Drew Pomeranz, one of the truly pleasant surprises for the Boston Red Sox as they steam toward the postseason, is proving especially tough at home. "We want to remind everyone that just as baseball is fundamental to American culture and history, so, too, is racism". From his statement: "I have received absolute assurances from the Red Sox that there will be no future violations of this type". In his career, Cobb is 6-3 with a 3.32 ERA and 53 strikeouts against Boston. "I think we've been pretty energized since our younger guys have gotten here", Oakland manager Bob Melvin said after his team downed the Red Sox 7-3 on Wednesday night.

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Red Sox are a -115 favorite to win on the moneyline. He couldn't find the cutter.

Andriese went up against Sale last Saturday and could not make it out of the second inning while being charged with eight runs - six earned - on seven hits and two walks in 1 2/3 frames.

"We had some opportunities, and we had a couple actual base-running mistakes early in the game that cost us, or at least cost us another chance to score some runs", Melvin said. "It's nice being able to sit here now after the fact, but winning this game boosts the morale".
